Phil is our
General Manager. He is the driving force behind all of us
at CyberSport. He is the proverbial father figure that motivates,
disciplines and nags the rest of the immature souls that
make up the CyberSport team. Phil believes in the daily
commute, which he does on an Easton Ultralite Brodie climb
Max with a 14sp internally geared Rohloff hub. His turn-offs
include Bruce, Dylan and IBM computers. His turn-ons include
cameras, Mac computers, Nanaimo bars, really, anything he
can get in his hands and play with - endlessly.
Bruce is our Product Manager.
Many believe our ‘Bruce C.’ hasn't worked a
traditional day in his life… spending the better part
of the eighties and nineties as a member of the Canadian
National Road Team (8yrs) and a pro-level Mountain biker
(8yrs). With an unprecedented 13 national titles, Bruce
has experienced more pleasure and pain in the saddle than
most of us mere mortals could ever comprehend. Responsible
for the design of the Brodie line, Bruce carries a quite
‘serial-killer’ type demeanour that allows him
the patience and passion to create the quality you see from
Brodie year after year. Turn-offs include big-travel DH
rigs in the back of pick up trucks, girls that call him
more than once a day and whiners. Turn-ons include super
technical single-track (up and down), monster trucks, fast
cars and fast dirt bikes.
Roger is owner and CEO of
CyberSport. In the early nineties, Roger approached Paul
Brodie with an idea to expand Brodie from the 4 models Paul
was hand building here in Vancouver. 7 years later, Brodie
has become one of Canada’s premier bicycle companies
with a limited worldwide distribution. Roger prides himself
in his strength of communication, humility and his ability
to care for and nurture his family, friends and staff. Oh,
and not to mention how everyone thinks that Phil owns the
Company. Turn-offs include long drawn out run-on sentences
with too many words that should have been brief and to the
point trying to explain a small little point that doesn’t
really matter to anyone from the beginning, corporate attitude,
top buttons and riding to work. Turn-ons include riding
to work, kicking tires, auto-magazines, hockey, Christmas
and living vicariously through Bruce and Dylan’s personal
escapades.
Ying is our Credit and Office
Manager. Spending most of his time counting, crunching,
and yelling profanities into the phone, Ying is the crankshaft
that keeps the CyberSport engine from grinding to a halt.
His calm and reasonable approach, saddled with the odd verbal
lashing, places the ageless Credit Man into the hearts of
many. Ying keeps fit with the odd commute to work, coaching
minor hockey and moving into his fictitious new house with
his fictitious wife. Turn-offs include overdue accounts,
pushy sales reps, Ottawa Senators and his food being touched.
Turn-ons include The Toronto Maple Leafs, R&R weekends
on Denman Island and kicking Phil and Roger’s ass
on the commute to work.
Ryan (Jr. as he’s affectionately
called in the Brodie dungeon) is our newest edition. Ryan
is our new Warranty Manager. Warranty is one of the toughest
jobs in the industry and Jr. is taking it all in stride.
Ryan is new to cycling and has seriously embraced the sport.
Whether he is pedaling his Awl, ripping the shore on his
Devo, or trying to make his mark at work, Ryan is always
full of youthful energy. Turn-offs include, warranties that
aren’t stripped, the phrase “Hey Jr., I need
you to do something for me.” , and unreliable internet.
Turn-ons include BIKING!, playing hockey, getting ripped,
and small, fast cars with carbon fibre parts bolted all
over them.
Pat was the newest crüe
member here in the metal wrought catacombs of Brodie for
a very short period of time, then Alex and Andrew were brought
home from the new employee store and things changed. An
industry veteran, he's been working on - not synonymous
with fixing - bikes since '86. United Bicycle Institute
in Ashland Oregon was where he acquired the arcane knowledge
loose in his head today followed by a 5 year stint at Rocky
Mountain as the Quality Control/Warehouse/ Production Line
guy. Add a 6 year bit as a shop owner and he never has to
say, "I'm sorry, but it might be interesting to hear
what's wrong with you". Single malt scotch is one of
his life's little pleasures - Bowmore, Lagavulin and Laphroaig
will all be fine- add urban rides, cooking, reading, the
flashy new PS2 and the fact his sweetie never calls him
at work. He's come to love riding the Pemberton steeps,
anywhere in Squamish and Harper's Mountain in Kamloops;
each has been blessed with the blood (and chunks) of the
Irish. Sleek fleshed, cell phone worshipping whiners top
his list of things to send to Fargo, ND. Politicians - known
as food animals in some circles - are next, crowded closely
by those who confuse opinion with fact.
Andrew grew up riding all
types of bikes on Vancouver Island. After spending some
time figuring out what he REALLY wanted to be doing and
getting bored of being a carpet-layer he moved to Vancouver
to work for Rocky Mountain Bicycles. After 3 1/2 years there
he moved to West Point Cycles where he spent another 3 years
working retail. With the taste of manufacturing still lingering
he started working at RaceFace. Brodie Bikes enticed him
away with the golden opportunity of rep'ing. Now he's part
of the B-Team, manufacturing, promoting and selling some
of the best bikes in the world! In his spare time he's all
about friends, food, wine and travel. Kinda "Bon Apetit"
but he's not going to apologize for that;) Bike: '06 Brodie
Gigolo. Favourite Trail: The ones that go down. Favourite
Riding Partner: Andrew M and Chris W, one for the up-hills
and one for the down. Favourite Food: Anything, but force
him to pick and he'd say Sushi. Favourite Movie: Fists of
Legend (Jet Li)Alex Cogger
Alex is one of our newer additions,
and our resident French Canadian. Hailing from the land
of 'tourtiere and poutine', Alex has joined our sales team
and will be handling Ontario, the Lower Mainland and the
Okanagan areas. He will also be our, Quebec Assistant Account
Manager. The Angry Inch (or Bitter Little Pill, take your
pick) specializes in really, really, long rides. He has
been known to ride his Single Speed in circles. For up to
24 hours in a row in fact… This tendency was brought
on by a tragic dirt jumping accident that soured him on
the concept, resulting in a broken nose and separated shoulder,
although he is ready to get back on the horse now. As a
country boy for the last 5 years, Alex is re-learning the
ropes of urban living, so cut him slack if you see him on
the roads. Turn offs include dirty bikes, smelly feet and
people who kick dogs. Turn ons are deep snow, buff single-track,
hand-built steel bikes and high winds.
