2015 Brodie Bicycles

2015 bike samples have hit the office, and with them comes a new year and new developments. But the history of Brodie, and our adventures in race and utility, through all our lines, hold true. We’ll be releasing information on our steel road bikes with disc wheels, our new colours and models in the Journey series, some complete titanium bikes, as well as our dedicated 650b mountain bike lineup.

As a teaser, here’s a few studio shots of the new Tiber, Romax, Fury, Ti Rodie, Section.7 and P49 Remus we made in collaboration with Parallel 49 Brewing.

In the meantime, grab all the sun you can and get outside. We’ll see you on the trails! Continue reading 2015 Brodie Bicycles…

2015 Brodie Product Launch

(Vancouver, BC) – The 2015 product launch is a reflection of our mantra, ‘Real Bikes for Real People’. With bikes ranging from practical city bikes to rugged mountain bikes, we have a bike for everyone at an affordable price point.

“Every year, we’re constantly looking at ways to improve our products and selection as the bike industry is extremely competitive”, says Bruce Spicer, Product Manager. “We’ve made several changes to our lineup to adapt to the needs of our customers”.

One of the big changes that we’ve made to our lineup is offering complete bikes in titanium. In the past, this has only been an option for the frame. This change is reflected in our popular Speed Series which are road bikes that are designed for long distances. We’ve also introduced a stainless steel model, also in the Speed Series that’s durable, long-lasting and will never rust.

“One of the bikes I’m most excited about would be in our Journey Series which are short distance city bikes. It’s called Section 7 and it has this vintage, military bike feel to it”, explains Bruce. “It’s a city bike but it looks tough and rugged”.

Bruce anticipates that Brodie’s best seller will continue to be the Dynamo, in our Express Series which are bikes designed for longer distances but still within a city. The affordable Dynamo is a straight bar commuter bike that can fit anyone on its frame, short or tall. It’s been Brodie Bikes best seller for 5 years now.

“Next year will be our 30th anniversary and we’re going to have a few special surprises to celebrate that but this year’s product launch is definitely our most exciting yet”, says Spicer. “I anticipate that Brodie will maintain our strong foothold in Western Canada and continue to grow across Canada”.

Summer Isn’t Over

Summer isn’t over yet, but the upcoming change in seasons means a change in bikes for some of us at Brodie. Cyclocross is coming, and it’s time to practice.

Once again we’re supporting the local Vancouver race scene again as the  title sponsor for the Vancouver Cyclocross Coalition (www.vcxc.ca) and are pitching in to get the race numbers printed up for the full series.  Continue reading Summer Isn’t Over…

Paul Brodie’s New Bicycle

After 15 years, Paul Brodie decided it was time to build himself a new bicycle for himself. Filet brazed steel welds, Rohloff internal gear hub, Hope disc brakes, 26″ wheels and a custom through axle hub, he’s built himself his very own “play” bike. Still figuring out the cable routing and what kind of guides he’s going to run, his one of a kind Brodie is almost complete!

Cyclopacking

In 3 weeks I will do the longest off-road ride I’ve ever attempted, 584 km in 3 days at the Oregon Outback, presented by VeloDirt.

My experience with bikepacking is rather limited. I race for Mighty Riders, CX and Road. I’ve ridden long days through Yellowstone national park with just a backpack of campgear, or something similar on the San Juan Islands when track bikes on long trips seemed like a good idea. However, it’s never been this much off-road, and never this far out of cellphone service. Continue reading Cyclopacking…
